Blackcraig is a lead mining complex located in Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland, comprising a lade, dressing floors, smelt mill, and associated miners' cottages. The site represents industrial exploitation of lead deposits that was undertaken during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when Scottish lead mining was an established commercial enterprise. The physical remains reflect the integrated process of ore extraction, processing, and smelting that characterised lead production at this period, with the lade serving to convey water power to the mill and dressing floors used for ore concentration. The miners' cottages testify to the residential infrastructure required to support the workforce engaged in this extractive industry.
