Calderfield enclosure, situated approximately 150 metres south-west of Calderfield in Stirlingshire, is a post-medieval field enclosure. The monument dates to the post-medieval period and represents the type of field management and land organisation typical of early modern rural Scotland. Its physical character consists of the earthwork remains of an enclosure, visible as banks or ditches that once demarcated agricultural land. Such enclosures reflect the gradual reorganisation of the Scottish landscape during the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries, when traditional open-field systems were progressively replaced by consolidated, enclosed holdings.
