Corrieyairack Pass is a military road constructed in the early eighteenth century as part of the British government's strategic infrastructure programme in the Scottish Highlands following the 1715 Jacobite rising. The road was built between approximately 1726 and 1732 under the direction of General George Wade, forming part of the network designed to facilitate military movement and troop deployment across challenging Highland terrain. The route runs from Connachie Burn to Culachy in Inverness-shire, traversing the high moorland of the Corrieyairack Pass at approximately 770 metres elevation. The road survives as a substantial physical feature, with characteristic constructed elements including stone drainage channels and graded alignment, representing an important example of early military road engineering in Britain.
