Dubmill Point milefortlet 17 is a Roman fortlet forming part of the coastal defence system of the Cumbrian coast during the later Roman period. Located 560 metres west-north-west of Hill House in Cumberland, this small fortification represents one of a series of milefortlets constructed along this stretch of frontier to monitor and control movement along the shoreline. The site dates to the second and third centuries AD, a period when Roman authorities sought to strengthen defences against potential threats from the sea and inland incursions. The fortlet's surviving remains contribute to the archaeological record of Roman military installations in northern Britain and their role in the broader imperial strategy for frontier management.
