Hareheugh Craigs is a defended settlement of Iron Age date located in Berwickshire, Scottish Borders. The site comprises a fort with associated settlement remains positioned on a naturally defensive rocky outcrop, typical of the hillforts and defended homesteads constructed in south-eastern Scotland during the Iron Age period. The fortification exploited the natural strength of the crag to provide protection and strategic vantage, representing an important form of settlement organization in this region during the pre-Roman Iron Age. Archaeological evidence indicates occupation and use consistent with the pattern of defended settlements that characterize the Late Iron Age communities of the Scottish Borders and Tweed valley.
