Old Roxburgh is a deserted medieval town site situated on a peninsula formed by the confluence of the Rivers Teviot and Tweed in Roxburghshire, Scotland. The settlement developed as a significant trading centre and royal burgh from the twelfth century onwards, becoming an important administrative and commercial hub in the Scottish Borders. The site was eventually abandoned, with its functions transferred to the nearby town of Kelso in the seventeenth century. Physical remains include earthworks, building foundations, and street patterns that survive as archaeological evidence of the medieval urban layout, preserving traces of what was once a prosperous and strategically important settlement.
