Kilnsike Tower is a late medieval tower house located in Roxburghshire, in the Scottish Borders. The structure dates to the sixteenth century and represents the defensive architecture characteristic of the Anglo-Scottish border region during a period of considerable friction between the two kingdoms. The tower would have served both as a fortified dwelling and as a statement of territorial authority for its occupants. Like other border towers of its period, it exemplifies the practical military architecture necessitated by the lawlessness and raiding that plagued the Border marches during the early modern period.
