Leez Augustinian Priory is a medieval religious house founded in the twelfth century in Essex, established as a priory for Augustinian canons. The priory was dissolved during the sixteenth-century Dissolution of the Monasteries, after which the site was converted to domestic use and a Tudor mansion was erected within the precinct. The complex retains evidence of its monastic past, including fishponds which served the practical and economic needs of the religious community. The surviving structures and landscape features at Leez reflect the transition from ecclesiastical to secular occupation during the Tudor period, making the site significant for understanding the transformation of English monasteries in the post-Reformation era.
