Offa's Dyke: Y Gardden Camp Section is a Early Medieval linear earthwork forming part of the substantial defensive frontier constructed during the reign of King Offa of Mercia in the late eighth century. This particular section, located in Denbighshire, comprises a substantial earth and stone bank that would originally have stood considerably higher than its present form, designed to demarcate the boundary between the Mercian kingdom and the Welsh territories beyond. The dyke at this location demonstrates the characteristic construction methods of the period, incorporating an upcast bank built from material excavated from an associated ditch. This section remains an important surviving example of one of the most ambitious linear earthworks of the Early Medieval period and continues to define the landscape of the Welsh borderland.
