Pennytersal Farm motte is a Medieval motte located approximately 235 metres south-west of Pennytersal Farm in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The monument comprises an earthwork mound of the type characteristic of Norman feudal settlement in Scotland, constructed during the Medieval period following the establishment of Anglo-Norman lordship in the lowlands. The motte would have functioned as the defensive and administrative centre of a local holding, typical of the pattern of settlement expansion in south-west Scotland during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The site remains visible as an upstanding earthwork feature and is recorded in the national heritage database under HES INSPIRE reference SM12893.
