The remains of the former bridge to the north of Stirling Old Bridge is an archaeological site in Stirlingshire comprising structural evidence of a mediaeval crossing point over the River Forth. The fragmentary remains indicate a bridge of medieval construction, though precise dating remains difficult without more substantial surviving masonry. Its location upstream of the more famous Stirling Old Bridge (completed in the fifteenth century) suggests it may represent an earlier river crossing that served the strategic settlement of Stirling before the construction of the bridge that remains a landmark today. The site provides evidence of the successive attempts to control and facilitate passage across the River Forth at this historically important location.
