Toftgun is a broch situated 365 metres south-south-east of the Loch of Camster in Caithness, northern Scotland. This Iron Age fortified tower belongs to the distinctive class of Scottish brochs, circular drystone structures characteristic of the first centuries BC and AD, and represents an important example of Iron Age defensive and domestic architecture in the far north. The broch's physical remains reflect the typical broch design, with thick walls constructed without mortar and internal cellular chambers built within the wall thickness. Brochs of this period and location are believed to have served as high-status residences and defensive strongholds for local communities during the later Iron Age.
