History & Significance

Part of Oengus I's campaign to subjugate the Scots of Dál Riata. The Dál Riatan leader Talorgen was captured and drowned on Oengus's orders. The annals record multiple Pictish victories over Dál Riata in the 730s as Oengus dismantled their power and temporarily brought both kingdoms under his control.
