History & Significance

The MacGregors occupied a precarious position in Perthshire, squeezed between Campbell, Graham, and Drummond lands. Their survival strategy of raiding and cattle theft brought them into repeated conflict with their neighbours. Episodes like this led progressively toward the 1603 proscription of the entire clan following Glenfruin.
