The Battle

History & Significance

Before his famous assault on Anglesey, Suetonius Paulinus conducted aggressive operations against the Silures in South Wales. Tacitus records that Paulinus pursued glory through military campaigns. The pressure on the Silures was temporarily relieved when Paulinus was recalled by the Boudiccan revolt, allowing the Silures to reconsolidate their resistance.
