The Battle

History & Significance

The final planning meeting for the Essex rebellion took place at Southampton House and Essex House in the days before the rising. Essex and his confederates including Southampton and Rutland agreed the plan to seize the court at Whitehall; a performance of Richard II was commissioned at the Globe as propaganda.
