The Battle

History & Significance

As Edward I begins construction of Harlech Castle on a dramatic sea rock, Welsh resistance fighters under Dafydd ap Gruffudd raid the construction site and surrounding area. The castle is eventually completed by 1289 and becomes one of the finest concentric castles in Europe. Local Welsh disruption of the building effort causes delays.
