History & Significance

Perkin Warbeck attempted a landing at Deal in Kent with a Burgundian-backed force. The beach was defended by local men; the advance party was killed or captured before Warbeck could land himself. It was the only occasion an armed Yorkist force touched English soil during his campaign.
