History & Significance

Constantine II — who ruled Alba (the merged Pictish-Scottish kingdom) for forty years — fought multiple campaigns against Viking raiders and the Norse kingdom of Dublin. A victory near Inveravon in Speyside expelled a Viking raiding force that had penetrated deep into Moray. Constantine II was one of the great early kings of Scotland who shaped the kingdom that would persist.
