Outcome
Following the Scots' defeat at the Battle of Halidon Hill in 1333, Loch Doon Castle was one of only five or six strongholds in Scotland that continued to hold out for David II against Edward Balliol. The English besieged the castle in 1335, but the defenders were able to hold out; no source found confirms the DB's stated eventual surrender on terms, and this appears to be a conflation with the castle's earlier, separate surrender by Sir Gilbert de Carrick in 1306.
