Cardurnock milefortlet (Mf 5) is a Roman fortified structure located on Hadrian's Wall in Cumberland, positioned between the forts of Burgh-by-Sands and Bowness-on-Solway. Built during the second century AD as part of the wall's defensive system, the milefortlet formed one of a series of small garrisons spaced at approximately one-mile intervals along the wall's length. The structure consists of a small rectangular fortification with stone walls, designed to accommodate a small garrison and provide surveillance and control over the wall's frontier. The site represents the characteristic design and function of milefortlets as integral components of the Hadrianic frontier strategy, supporting the broader military infrastructure of Roman Britain's northern border.
