Cultoquhey Fort is an Iron Age fort situated near the Perthshire settlement of Cultoquhey, some 270 metres north-west of the modern village. The fort occupies high ground above the surrounding Strathmore landscape, built upon bedrock of Emsian sandstone interspersed with conglomerate, siltstone and mudstone. This geological foundation provided a stable platform for construction whilst the elevated location afforded commanding views across the fertile lowlands typical of defensive siting in the Iron Age.
