Enclosed settlement, 310 metres south-south-east of The Dairy House, is a prehistoric or early historic fortified settlement in Wigtownshire, situated on bedrock of Shinnel and Glenlee Formation wacke. The site comprises an enclosure defined by a substantial bank or wall, typical of defended farmsteads that were constructed and occupied across southwest Scotland during the Iron Age and Romano-British periods. Such settlements served both domestic and defensive functions, protecting livestock and inhabitants in a landscape that was increasingly settled and cultivated.
