Innan Neb is a Second World War defensive installation located on the Orkney Islands. The site comprises coast batteries, barrage balloon positions, and associated military camp infrastructure dating from the period of 1939 to 1945, reflecting the strategic importance of Orkney during the war as a naval base and location vulnerable to German air and sea attack. The coast batteries were positioned to defend against potential enemy vessels approaching the islands, whilst the barrage balloon site served to deter or impede low-level aircraft operations. The remains visible today preserve evidence of the military occupation and defensive preparations undertaken during the conflict, contributing to the archaeological record of wartime Britain.
