Crockness Martello Tower is a coastal defensive structure located at Long Hope in the Orkney Islands, Scotland. Built during the Napoleonic Wars in the early nineteenth century, it forms part of the network of Martello towers constructed around the British coast to defend against French invasion. The tower exhibits the characteristic circular or polygonal form typical of Martello fortifications, with thick masonry walls designed to withstand artillery bombardment. Like other towers of this class, it would have mounted cannon on its roof and served as a garrison post, though the site's remote position on the Orkney coast made it a particularly isolated outpost of Britain's coastal defence system.
