History & Significance

Government troops swept through Glenmoriston enforcing the Dress Act proscribing Highland clothing. Glenmoriston had been a centre of resistance after Culloden and sheltered the Seven Men of Glenmoriston who protected the fugitive Charles Edward Stuart. It was targeted for rigorous post-rising enforcement.
