The Battle

History & Significance

John Moidartach MacDonald of Clanranald defeated a combined force of Frasers and MacIntoshes at the head of Loch Lochy. The Fraser chief was killed. This is sometimes confused with the Battle of the Shirts (Blar na Léine) at the same location but appears to be a separate engagement. Part of the complex warfare over the disputed chieftainship of Clanranald.
