History & Significance

Thomas Percy Earl of Northumberland fled to Scotland after the collapse of the Northern Rising. He was handed back to England in 1572 and executed at York. His arrest in Scotland by Moray and subsequent delivery marked the final end of the Neville and Percy challenge to Elizabethan rule in the north.
