History & Significance

A MacLeod force pursuing MacDonalds was caught in a pass in Knoydart and slaughtered. Called the Pass of the Shoes because the MacDonalds removed their brogans to attack silently. Part of the ongoing feud between the MacDonalds and MacLeods that bloodied the Western Highlands through the sixteenth century.
