The Antonine Wall, B802 to north of Cuilmuir View, Croy, is a section of the turf and stone frontier fortification constructed by the Roman Empire across central Scotland. Built during the reign of Antoninus Pius between approximately 142 and 144 AD, this section represents part of the second-century advance northward from Hadrian's Wall. The monument consists of the characteristic earthwork comprising a ditch to the north and a rampart constructed of turf and stone, which would have stood substantially higher in antiquity than the low ridges visible today. This stretch of the wall near Croy, within Dunbartonshire, lies within the broader line of the fortification that extended from the Firth of Clyde to the Firth of Forth and served as the northernmost frontier of the Roman Britain for approximately thirty years before the Romans withdrew to Hadrian's Wall.
